It’s list building season! This week we talk about how to set the priorities that drive your marketing to do list. Everyone has plenty of work keeping them busy, but how do you know if it’s just busy work or work that’s actually helping your bottom line.
You can easily wastes thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours on marketing activities that don’t actually move the needle in your business. The problem is that we mix up our priorities.
Your marketing approach can work just like a well run farm. You need to think of your marketing cycle in seasons and each season you need to do some planting, nurturing, and harvesting.
The first seeds you plant should be profit driving activities connected to your brand positioning and messaging as well as setting up your marketing infrastructure such as emails, crm, and list building activities.
Then you can move on to nurturing your campaign. This includes listening, learning, revising and executing. You’re main focus in this step is to make your offering stronger, update your messaging, and collect testimonials and referrals.
And finally you can jump into harvesting where you roll out your updated offering to a wider audience. Continue to improve on what’s working and then start all over again adding new marketing layers one at a time.
The goal in all of this is to keep a sharp focus on profit driving activity, while building repeatable processes and learning that can grow your business.
